Michael was delighted to take part in the Conservative Party’s gardening social action project with Thrive at Conference 2013 #CPC13.
Thrive is the leading charity in the UK using gardening to change the lives of disabled people. It helps people who want to garden at home, or on an allotment, or in a community setting to access structured horticultural therapy programmes.
He joined a number of Ministers, Members of Parliament, Party Staff, journalists and delegates who also packed a box for Thrive, with an accompanying note of encouragement.
Michael said:
‘I was delighted to be able to take part in this year’s Social Action project at the Conservative Party Conference. Gardening can help individuals accomplish many things. It can help rebuild a person’s strength after an accident or illness, and can provide a purposeful activity for someone coping with a difficult period in their life. It can lift moods and help people to connect with others, reducing isolation by forming friendships and improve communications skills and I was really pleased to have played a small part and raised awareness about this excellent charity."
Michael is also pictured playing table football and with Prostate Cancer UK. He learnt much about Prostate Cancer UK, which fights to help more men survive prostate cancer and enjoy a better quality of life. But he was disappointed only to have scored only 6 goals at table football and to have come second.
