Michael welcomes this weeks' announcement that the Government is clamping down on private parking cowboys, giving people the protection they need against unfair and extortionate parking fines.
Private car parks will have to display prices more clearly.
Most parking fines will be capped at £50. Higher fines of £70 and £100 will remain, however, for serious breaches, such as wrongfully parking in disabled bays.
Private parking firms will be required to give a 10 minute grace period to motorists.
50% discounts on fines will be provided if motorists pay within 14 days.
5-minute cooling-off periods will be given to motorists if they change their mind about parking.
Michael said:
"I have often been contacted by constituents who have had difficulty reconciling issues with private parking companies, and I welcome these changes to ensure that these problems will be reduced in future"
