Education Secretary Michael Gove has visited a Poole special school in the middle of a £5m revamp. Montacute School at Canford Heath is undergoing a phased redevelopment of the existing school building, thanks to the Government’s Priority School Building Programme.
The special school academy teaches 75 pupils between the ages of two and 19 years with severe, complex or profound and multiple learning difficulties.
The Minister was introduced to staff and pupils by Mid Dorset and North Poole Prospective MP Michael Tomlinson.
Michael said: “It’s wonderful that the Minister has taken the time to come and see for himself the hard work and dedication of the staff at this inspiring special school. Montacute deserves the best and this money is being used to safeguard the schools future for generations to come. I will follow up the Education Secretary's promise to look into additional funding to ensure that the new school is fully equipped both inside and out."
