Michael Tomlinson has today welcomed new statistics that show the number of people claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance – the main unemployment benefit – has fallen by 1,700 in the South West.
This means in Mid Dorset and North Poole the number of people claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance has fallen by 261 since the election.
Welcoming the figures, Michael Tomlinson, pictured above looking around a Dorset factory, said:
‘It’s great news that the number of people claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance is falling in the South West. This means since the election there are 261 fewer people claiming the main unemployment benefit in Mid Dorset and North Poole.
‘British business is rising to the challenge of creating jobs. There is always more to do, but these figures are encouraging.’
