January news
Firstly, I want to thank those of you who voted in the recent election. I am delighted and humbled to have been elected again to represent the people of Mid Dorset and North Poole in Parliament. It is nearly 100 years since this country had a December election, and I’m not sure I’d recommend them – rather too dark, cold and wet for everyone!
One advantage of the dark and cold is that we can truly appreciate the lights and festivities of Christmas. Because of the election I wasn’t able to wish you all a Happy Christmas in December’s edition, so instead I will wish you a peaceful New Year! Whether you have made a resolution or not, I hope you had an enjoyable time with family or friends.
Much of my time over the last couple of months has been spent campaigning – letting people know my views, but also more importantly hearing from constituents directly. I attended several “hustings” where people could ask me and the other candidates our views on a range of issues. Now that the election is over, you can still ask me my views – please do email or write to me, or get in touch through my website. I also send out regular residents’ surveys, asking for your views. It is incredibly helpful to know about the issues that matter the most to my constituents.
If you’d like to get more details about what I am doing as your MP, you can keep up with all my news in a variety of ways. One is through my website, where I try and add news items every few days to let you know where I’ve been in the constituency or what I’ve been doing in Parliament. If you prefer something a bit more informal, you can check my facebook page, or follow me on twitter. You can also sign up to my e-newsletter on my website. I send this out monthly, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
Whether you voted for me or not, I am here to serve you as your MP. I continue to hold regular surgeries in the constituency so if you need help or support, please do get in touch. Email me on [email protected] or contact my office on 01202 624216.
