Michael Tomlinson supports ‘ready, set, read!’- this year’s Summer Reading Challenge.
The Challenge is themed around the power of play, sport, and games. It will be launched on Saturday 8th July. The challenge will be working with public libraries, prisons and hospitals with free materials accessible to all.
Children will join fun characters to navigate a fictional summer obstacle course and track their reading as they go, rewarded by free incentives including stickers. By participating in the Challenge, young people to have the opportunity to explore new reading material, develop skills, and discover new interests.
The Reading Agency aims to foster a lifelong love of reading and tackle the drop off in reading that can happen over the school summer holidays. The charity has a mission to empower people of all ages to read and most importantly encourage children to enjoy reading for fun!

‘It was great to visit the Reading Agency event in parliament to learn about the work they do, and it is so valuable when supporting our libraries and encouraging children to participate in reading outside of school during the summer holidays. I am sure it will spark many people’s imagination this summer.’
