Michael Tomlinson, Prospective MP for Mid Dorset and North Poole, has today welcomed the announcement of £38 billion of investment in Britain’s railways for 2014-2019 - a record amount.
In Dorset passengers will benefit from: traction power supply upgrade; and improvements to Waterloo.
Michael Tomlinson, pictured with James Cracknell and June Spooner at Wareham Train Station commented:
“Record investment in our railways is excellent news for the hardworking people and families in Dorset who rely on our railways to get around.
“Here in Mid Dorset and North Poole plans to improve Waterloo will support small businesses and mean better services for passengers heading in to London; as will the important upgrade to the Wessex area, which covers the mainline between London, Southampton and Weymouth.
"Investing to build better infrastructure is a key part of the Conservatives’ long-term economic plan and vital to creating more jobs. Each one of those new jobs means another family with the added security of a regular pay packet, better able to plan for the future.”
