Michael has welcomed news that his constituency has seen the biggest drop in people claiming Job Seekers Allowance and Universal Credit in the entire South West in the last year. Recent figures from the Office of National Statistics have shown that the claimant count has falled by 30% since October 2014 and by 59% since 2010.
Michael said, "This is obviously good news and I am delighted that Mid Dorset and North Poole has seen such a drop in the last year. This is not just a statistic, every person who is able to find a job has a better chance of providing for themselves and their family and I am pleased that people have been able to find work in our area. I have always tried to help people get into work through my jobs club and I am organising a job fair for next year. It is vital that we do all that we can to help those still unable to get in to work. I will not be statisfied until everyone has a good job."
