Michael has welcomed the opening of the online applications for energy support for homes not on mains gas. Most residents will receive this automatically through their electricity supplier, but for those who do not, they can now apply.
Residents will need to provide
- an email address or phone number (if you have one)
- your bank account details
- proof that you’ve spent £200 on alternative fuels to heat your home since September 2022 (for example, a delivery note or receipt)
And all applications will be checked by the local council to ensure eligibility.

For those people without a direct relationship with an electricity supplier, residents can apply for a £400 equivalent to that which most people have received automatically. You can apply for this online here: £400 grant towards electricity
