Michael hosted a group of ten work experience students from six different schools during the Easter recess.
They undertook a range of tasks, giving them an insight into the world of local and national politics. They stuffed letters into envelopes, delivered leaflets, researched Private Member's Bills, and considered who they would chose for the Cabinet if they were the Prime Minister. They had the chance to ask questions of a member of the House of Lords, local councillors and Parliamentary staff. They also talked to Michael about his role as a local MP and Government Minister.
They decided as a group on a topic for a debate, which ended up being on the legalisation of cannabis. Michael chaired the debate, and there were brilliant speeches and interventions from the students.
The students wrote diaries of the week, which can be found under "In Parliament" on the website.
