Michael chairs the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Youth Employment. At the latest meeting, Samantha Windett of Impetus presented the findings of a new report into the circumstances of young people who are not in education, employment and training (NEET). The report claims that disadvantaged young people are twice as likely to be NEET than their better off peers, and that disadvantaged young people are still more likely to be NEET even when they have the same qualifications. The report also shows the variations within regions, and suggests that looking at regional averages is less helpful than focusing on specific areas within regions.
