Helping Constituents
One of the things that has been very satisfying about being an MP is being able to help constituents in Dorset with issues that they have. Along with my fantastic caseworker Laura, I am proud to have been able to help many people over the last four and a half years. It’s a really important part of the job, and is often unseen. The issues are wide ranging, and people often come to an MP for help when they have tried every other avenue without success. People may need help with sorting out benefits problems, issues with the child maintenance service, visa issues, pension problems or housing difficulties. Sometimes residents can find that utility companies, banks and other service providers have a "computer says no" approach. My view is that we will try and help whenever we can - we can’t wave a magic wand, but we have successfully helped hundreds of people across Mid Dorset & North Poole.
"I came to see Michael at his MP surgery. He listened and took my concerns seriously. Following our meeting, he spoke to the Minister about changing the law. I'm voting for Michael because he cares about local people and works hard to make things better for us"
