The Rex Cinema in Wareham awarded Culture Funding
The BFI has awarded a grant from the Culture Recovery Fund to Rex cinema of £56,313 in funding. This is comprised of a one off health and safety grant to help them make their venue Covid-secure for their staff and for audiences, and a business sustainability grant to ensure they are able to survive through to the spring and beyond when they can hopefully reopen their doors to audiences again.
Over £1.9million was awarded to organisations in the South West via the government’s £1.57billion Culture Recovery Fund.
Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden has announced the final awards from the first round of the scheme, building on over £1billion given to a wide range of organisations last year.
Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden said: “From restoring Georgian lidos and Roman Baths to saving local screens and synagogues, our Culture Recovery Fund is helping to save the places people can’t wait to get back to, when it is safe to do so.
“All over the country, this funding is protecting the venues that have shaped our history and make us proud of our communities, whilst safeguarding the livelihoods of the people that work in them.”
