Michael was invited to visit Northern Ireland by the Secretary of State. Whilst there he saw the peace lines, and heard about the work being done in the different communities to bring people together. He saw how the gradual opening up between communities is still developing, but progess is being made.
He met politicans from several different parties in Northern Ireland, including the Speaker of the Assembly in Stormont, and the leader of the DUP. They discussed the challenges facing the Assembly, and the local communities.
Michael also heard about the plans for the Open coming to the Royal Portrush Golf Course, and from local businesses who are decarbonising, and developing their highly technical products to use electricity instead of fossil fuels.
