Michael joined Councillors Paul Harrison and Mike Barron for a litter pick in Corfe Mullen this week. "Keep Corfe Mullen Clean" are a fantastic group of volunteers who give up their time to do community litter picks around Corfe Mullen - and even clean up the street signs!
The group scoured the area near Lockyer's School over the weekend, to ensure that it was looking as tidy as possible in advance of Remembrance weekend.
Michael said:
Litter is a personal bugbear of mine - it's so frustrating that people drop litter in our beautiful area, spoiling it for everyone else. I'm really pleased that we are cracking down on people caught littering - with on-the-spot fines for litter, graffiti and fly-tipping increasing.
The Government have changed the law so that councils can now issue higher fines - with the maximum amount those who litter or graffiti could be fined increased from £150 to £500.
