My work experience has taught me a number of different new skills, on the first day of work experience we studied different topics to debate as well as creating questions to ask Baroness Ann Jenkins.
On the second day we went around the constituency - in the Cole hill area, and delivered pamphlets to members of the public. We had a zoom call with Ann Jenkins and asked her a number of questions - particularly about women’s opportunities in the political sphere.
On the third day we continued delivering leaflets around the constituency - this time in a Lychett Matravers. We also conducted a discussion on the age smoking should be permitted, or if it should be allowed at all. The group had split opinions and everyone was able to voice their own opinion successfully.
On the fourth day we conducted the debate on whether marijuana should be legalised. This debate was more formal and was headed by Michael. The debate featured a number of interventions but it was a good experience and something I had never done before. We also went around the Lychett area again to continue dropping pamphlets to constituents. We returned to the office and conducted a discussion on Private members bills, directly linking to my politics course and helping me gain extra knowledge.
